Stepping inside

The interior of the store is a mixed bag. There are certainly some things to like, such as the nice natural light from the almost-all-glass exterior walls; on the other hand, that ceiling looks terrible with exposed insulation that's already starting to sag and tons of plumbing from the units above. Most of the time, I don't mind an open ceiling, but I feel like this store would have looked so much better with a drop ceiling. On the decor side of things, I think you can already see the big surprise here, but I'll speak more about that next time!

Now that you've stepped inside, I wish you didn't, lol. Ick! You could have fooled me into thinking this building is from the 1960s...or 1860s even! Even if it was a 1960s building, it would have been an industrial one, not a beautiful Marina store or something like that. This looks pretty nasty and I have not even seen a picture of the floors! I'm sure that won't impress me either, lol.

Still, this still looks more promising than the Raley's, lol. These photos being taken during the day might help given all the natural light. The Safeway might look similarly depressing at night.

What do you make of UW and the University of Oregon joining the Big 10 and leaving the Pac-12? It seems that Washington St. and Oregon St. might have to join the University of Houston in the Big 12. That'll be quite confusing given that UH got their nickname and colors from Washington State! Cougar-Cougar matchups with both teams wearing red and white will be quite confusing. It'll also be quite strange that some of UW's rivals closest experiences with Safeway/Albertsons will be Jewel-Osco and stuff like that, lol.

    1. Yeah, it's really not great. You might be pleasantly surprised by the flooring, though!

I'll be interested to see how you feel as we go along. I feel like Raley's is the industrial look done right, while this store is the industrial look done very wrong.

That was certainly a surprise! I don't really follow sports, but my parents (who are big Huskies fans) are pretty upset. I would have thought the UW would have been fine being in a division without any particularly good teams as competition, but I guess they want to be in with the fake Northwesterners (who even have basically the same colors) instead!
