California's various smaller grocery chains really like to talk up their history, and I'm surprised Safeway doesn't seem to have ever really done the same thing -- after all, Safeway has been based in California since before Raley's or Save Mart (the two big local chains) were founded! Regardless, I always like to see nods to a chain's history like this, even in the fairly bland form Raley's used here.
