The cursive neon here goes well with the checkerboard flooring, in that they both look like they're straight out of the 90s. I'm still really surprised by this store's recent construction! At least the logos on the signage don't date it -- some of them look quite old-fashioned (like Sunbeam and Oster), but I think they're still the current logos, and none of the brands have gone out of business -- luckily kitchen appliance brands don't change as fast as electronics ones.
Those are all current small kitchen appliance brands, but Proctor-Silex has not used that logo in years. Their current logo is much worse than what they were using when that London Drugs decor was made though so I don't blame London Drugs for leaving it the way it is. Obviously, they're selling plenty of modern appliances given all the Instant Pot boxes we see! This scene actually wouldn't look totally out of place at a Macy's, but then again, many Macy's have appliance departments which look more retro than this even, lol.
ReplyDeleteInteresting -- Proctor-Silex was one of the brands I looked up (to see if they even still existed, since I haven't heard of them in a long time), and I thought I found that as their current logo, but clearly I didn't look hard enough!
DeleteIt looks like a lot of stores are still using old images of Proctor-Silex products, but this is a product with their current logo: https://www.target.com/p/proctor-silex-1-1-cu-ft-1000-watt-microwave-oven-stainless-steel/-/A-53383982
