Over the sea

The meat and seafood counter, and especially its curved soffit, looks nice from this angle too! I feel like QFC tends to do a much better job of making their display cases photogenic than Safeway.

  1. This aerial shot is a bit nicer than those other images showing the accumulation of dust on top of the fixtures! At least the roof of the service department counter hides the dust pretty well, lol. Also, this image really does show the difference between how the store looks with concrete floors versus a tile floor! Interesting photo!

There is some local breaking Randall's news to report! Quite some time back, I mentioned that my local Randall's store's lease was set to expire in early 2024 and we weren't sure what was going to happen with the store. Well, there is a report today that renovation signs have gone up at the store and that some initial paint prep work has already started. I really can't imagine Randall's would renovate this store if the lease was going to expire in about half a year so I'm guessing Randall's has signed a new lease! This is great news because otherwise, the next nearest Randall's would be quite far from me. This is really the only remaining Randall's left in North Houston.

The store has Lifestyle v2 now. I'm guessing it'll be getting Colorful Lifestyle v2 given the other previous renovations in the area. I just hope Randall's decides to update the flooring with new vinyl tiles, or leave the Lifestyle v2 flooring, rather than put in a concrete floor. This building is 50 years old so it might be too old to have an exposed concrete floor. I'm hoping so. Generally, Randall's does put in new flooring cover, but they recently renovated the Pearland store to Colorful Lifestyle v2 and pulled up the flooring. That is a much newer location from the early 2000s though I think so maybe that's a different situation. We'll see, but I am a bit relieved to have reason to think Randall's has signed a new lease!

    1. It may be less obvious in the pictures, but the "roof" there looks pretty gross in person!

Cool! It's always nice to see more Colorful Lifestyle stores. 🙂 Also, I'm jealous of your stores getting nice new flooring in remodels rather than the cheap stuff the Seattle Division uses.
