From coast to city

The next "neighbourhood" along the way is another with a more conceptual name, "City", which in combination with the "Neighbourhood 3" part feels like something out of a dystopian fiction where proper names are gone. That aside, the transition space between these two neighborhoods contains what might just be my favorite art piece here, a group of birds with translucent, blue-green-purple feathers hanging above, which sadly doesn't have a page on the mall's art website.

  1. Some of the signage for the mall stores here is quite strange. That is especially true for the toy store. You'd think that the big rectangle would be for the store sign, but that seems to not be the case as the toy store only has a smaller sign above their door. The same is kind of true across the hallway at The Children's Place. Especially with the toy store, the way that rectangle looks makes it look kind of like a dying mall where some local store operating on the cheap has moved into a former chain store spot. I'm thinking that might not be the case here, but it kind of looks that way.

    1. Yeah, this is something that happens throughout the wall. It seems to be intentional -- the upper rectangles appear to be part of the mall's own decor (and they aren't as blank as they look here -- the one on the left is textured, and the two on the right have what appear to be extreme close-ups of a bird's feather), and it appears that the designers intended for tenants to just have relatively small signs, either hanging above the door or sitting on the "shelf" above it. The latter appears to be more common and definitely looks nicer, but both of these stores seem to be long-term tenants, so it doesn't seem to be a temporary thing, even though it does kind of look like that.
