Whoops, looks like I found the missing aisles -- I swear I looked at this picture before writing all that and completely missed them! 🤦♂️ Anyway, aisles 2 through 8 (as is typical for Kroger these days, aisle 1 is nowhere to be found) are apparently the sideways aisles for the liquor department, which seems rather strange since these are behind aisles 9 and up.
I tried posting this elsewhere, but Blogger is having an errorfest. Someone mentioned this elsewhere, but do you know what the story is with the corrugated metal decor at this Portland Safeway from this recent news video?

Well, that's frustrating. I visited that store on my 2019 trip, but it was still in the middle of its remodel when I visited and there was security everywhere, so my pictures didn't turn out to be usable. It seems to have been an experiment at around the same time as the woodgrain Lifestyle v3 version I posted a few months ago, but thankfully it seems to have died out after that one store (at least, I haven't stumbled upon any others randomly appearing on the other side of the country, as happened with the woodgrain version!).
