Around the corner, we find the full-sized, full-service meat department, something that always feels a little odd to me to find in a store with a pre-Lifestyle decor package as it was the Lifestyle era when Safeway really got into service departments... except really, it was the Proto-Lifestyle era, a descriptor that goes beyond the obvious visual similarities between this decor and Lifestyle v1. (I'm not sure what sort of service departments stores built in the Pastel Arches era had, but I want to say they were more limited and were expanded when those stores got Lifestyle remodels -- I'm not 100% sure of that, though.) Off in the background is the store's wall clock -- this might be the only Safeway that I've visited where I didn't get a closeup of that element, since it's something I've always had a strange fascination with; if I skipped that, I must have been in a huge hurry to leave for some reason, or just really unhappy with the worn-out decor here.
