The meat department has perhaps the opposite problem -- its two signs are perhaps too close together! Oh well, I'll cut Safeway some slack here since this appears to have been an experimental remodel. It's so weird seeing a completely standard Safeway meat department with black cases and black wall tile -- this store actually got new tile in the service departments, unlike the ones that got later, cheaper remodels. It's also odd to see a lid on part of that coffin case -- based on the sign above, I'm guessing they did that so that it could be converted to a frozen case, quite likely separate from the remodel. (Yes, I know that open frozen foods cases have been used in the past, but it seems they stopped being installed decades ago, and they never seem to have caught on up here anyway -- I've been to some quite outdated stores with very old cases, and so far all of them have had standard upright frozen cases with doors.)
