Meanwhile, the Bread & Rolls department has some old, probably fake brick hiding behind the Lifestyle-era shelving. I have no idea when this would be from, and it's probably not the structure showing through since the building seems to be otherwise built of concrete block, but I'm sure it's quite vintage!
It wouldn't surprise me if this bread & rolls area once looked how this East Texas Krogway's bread & rolls area looks (or at least looked until very recently) as Kroger has kept these old Safeway elements from the 1980s: https://goo.gl/maps/KA2PJ8Abu6uVzRXW7
ReplyDeleteSadly, better photos of that Krogway do not exist that I know of, but you can kind of see the bread section in the back of the photo.
Cool! I believe I've seen something similar (but painted over) at one of the other vintage Safeways I've visited.
