It's quite common for Safeway's bakery and liquor departments to be right next to one another, but it's quite odd to see them overlap as they do in this store! I suspect this area made a bit more sense originally, before Safeway added hard liquor to their stores, requiring additional floor space that they typically took from the adjacent bakery and/or deli.
