This picture is absolutely bizarre, and I have no clue what I was trying to do with it... but it's just so bizarre that I couldn't help but leave it in! It's interesting to see how this store's floral department has seemingly become more of an all-purpose gift department -- they even have candy over here, something I've never noticed at any other Safeway.
I can't say that I've seen candy at Randall's floral departments either, but I can't say that I've been looking either. That is a bit odd. Perhaps this Safeway couldn't think of any better place to sell that candy. Perhaps Safeway has some reason to think that the people buying flowers will also be buying that candy and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in a long time, I recently saw someone working the floral desk at a local Kroger store...and it was at an old Greenhouse store in a fairly blue-collar part of town. I thought that was a bit odd, but that entire store is a bit odd. It does have a large floral area so who knows. Floral is even more of an afterthought in local Kroger stores than it is at Randall's, but really that's not surprising given that Randall's has a bit more of an upscale image here.
Yeah, it's quite possible that I've been unobservant too, but none of the stores I visit regularly have this, at least!
DeleteWow, that is surprising! Most QFCs and Fred Meyers don't even have service counters for their floral departments these days. Around here, QFC is the more upscale store, but it's Safeway that tends to have impressive floral departments.
