Classy frozen foods

Perhaps the thing I will miss the most about PF&H decor is the fancy lighting that most stores got, the most common type of which was the drum lights over the frozen aisles (I believe this was the only part of the Port Angeles store that got drum lights). Add that to the woodgrain flooring this store got in the frozen aisles (not a particularly common feature), and it gives this department a very classy look -- well, apart from the clearance carts in the middle of the aisle, another classic Albertsons staple. (It's interesting to see how this practice seems to still be hanging on in at least some Albertsons, even though it was never adopted by Safeways -- they don't tend to have wide enough aisles for this!)

  1. This is certainly nicer than what the local Krogertsons has in their frozen food aisle! Instead of this, we get a concrete floors with cutouts in it for freezer drains and certainly the Krogertsons don't have those fancy lamp shades! I do like this classy, non-industrial look. It's too bad this is not considered modern now.

    1. It sure is! Even all these years later, PF&Hv1 still looks quite nice, and I think many of these elements would look right at home in a new store today, even if they aren't considered particularly "modern".
