Backsplash, Haggen style

Nope! Unsurprisingly, Campeón made virtually no changes here, and neither did Albertsons during their entire time in this building; instead, practically everything that isn't original to Grocery Palace was installed by Haggen during their brief time here during the Albertsons merger. That's what makes this so exciting to me -- this Haggen conversion decor is extremely rare, with only one store that I know of still having it in its entirety. And I guess this store got an extremely cheap conversion, since Haggen simply painted directly over the Grocery Palace decor, removing very little of it. Even the elements Campeón added, like the "Cocina" sign in the previous picture, were largely simple modifications of what Haggen installed. It's not a huge surprise that Safeway didn't want this store back, as they have their own one just a few blocks south of here, plus, if Albertsons never remodeled this store during their time here, I imagine this wasn't the most successful location.
