I suspect the basement level didn't get remodeled at the same time as (or wasn't remodeled as thoroughly as) the upper levels, since the finishes looked somewhat older to me (though as we've seen with the top four floors, the fact that they don't match doesn't really mean anything!). This part of the store also seemed much less interesting to me, though I often seem to think men's clothing departments are less visually interesting than their women's counterparts, which department store chains tend to put more effort into. At least the christmas decor continues down to this part of the store!
