Spinning around, here's a look at both the horizontal and vertical versions of the Banner signs. I'm pretty sure this is the only time I've captured a side view of the horizontal type! Again, you can see how dark the lower-ceiling perimeter section is (it almost looks like the eggcrate fixtures are completely out, but if I'm remembering correctly, they were just very dim) -- plus, it appears that the ceiling tiles are falling down in some places. This is also another really bad spot for the patchy floor tiles -- I really have to wonder if any of this was intentional or if it was just patched many times over the years. At least some of the pure white tiles appear to have been installed in the recent remodel, but the ones here look pretty old, and there are also multiple different shades of off-white ones (grey on the right of the image, tan in the back left). It hurts to compare Fred Meyer to Kmart, but that's the impression this store's flooring gives off.
The storage hanger with the hangers and the automotive one as well look pretty good. As for the mismatched tiles, yeah, that is a bit Kmartish. I guess that the tiles made sense at one time when the departments were laid out differently. This isn't the first time this store has been compared to a Kmart, but really a Kmart would have had dingier, more stained tiles than what the Fred Meyer has so at least it's not to that Kmart level!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm quite a fan of Banner's banners in general! And you're right, this store is nowhere near as bad as the average Kmart in recent years, not that that's saying much! 😉
