The front right corner of the store, beyond produce, holds what really sets Haggen apart from most grocery stores in this area (at least back in the 90s-00s) -- Market Street Cafe, which is a very large prepared foods/deli section with an attached restaurant-like seating area. It's amusing that Haggen used the Market Street name for this, as United Supermarkets uses the same name for their upscale grocery stores, which are also now owned by Albertsons! It's also interesting to see that Top Foods, which was originally intended as the more mainstream counterpart to Haggen's very upscale stores, still had the whole Market Street setup -- that, combined with the whole ultra-deluxe decor here, makes me think there was very little differentiation between Haggen and Top Foods towards the end of the split brands.
Very cool place so far!
