Since this area was obviously not designed to be the grocery department, Fred Meyer had to dump a few self-contained coolers here rather than proper cases. And to add insult to injury, they ran the electrical wiring for the coolers in exposed conduits on the wall above them, with cords hanging down to power them. Not a particularly professional look, in my opinion... at least they got custom Live Naturally signs, rather than the generic (or just
blank) ones that Kmart was infamous for.
It's not just smart, it's Kmart...err...Kroger smart! But, yeah, that does look like a bit of a blue light special there. Fortunately, these coolers look a bit newer and in better shape than the infamous Big Kmart coolers.

Ha! Yeah, not quite Kmart level, but if this store lasts as long between remodels as it did the last time, these won't be looking new and nice for too long!
DeleteWow, I didn't even notice that! I'm of the opinion that basically all bottled water is a scam, so having it under their "natural foods" brand only makes it feel scammier 🙂
