Apparently Fred Meyer wasn't using the original entrance here after all, probably realizing the security issues from the checkout removal, as the doors were blocked off with a giant wall of chips and other junk food! This is unfortunate, but probably smart -- ignoring the fact that blocking off an emergency exit with cardboard boxes is surely a massive fire code violation! 🙂 This part of the store looks rather empty -- they stretched the produce department quite a bit to take up the old checkout space, but the fixtures definitely seem to have been stretched rather thin.
