In fact, all of the signs here are similarly old, despite the recent remodel. It doesn't appear that Fred Meyer touched the exterior at all -- while I like the old signs, this place could really use a new paint job. Most of the sign faces look surprisingly fresh, however, as if they were replaced in kind at some point... which would be quite strange, but everything about this store is bizarre!
Ha, it's been a while since I've seen a vehicle with a fake woodgrain finish like that 1990s Jeep Grand Cherokee has in the corner of the photo! I was thinking that maybe this was a sign that this Fred Meyer would have a lot of fake wood ala Artisan, but I guess this is a Banner store. Oh well, I guess there might still be some fake wood.
ReplyDeleteOh, speaking of Oregon, did you hear that the Mall 205 is closing? https://www.wweek.com/news/business/2022/03/27/starting-this-week-mall-205-wont-be-a-mall-its-tenants-hope-for-a-second-chance-at-lloyd-center/
DeleteFunny! I still see those Jeeps from time to time (not in the city, though).
DeleteI don't think there's any woodgrain decor here, Artisan or otherwise, but there is still a little bit of Artisan to be seen!
Yeah, I did see that. Mall 205 has been dead for a while, but I didn't realize it was quite that bad! It's also funny that the remaining tenants are talking about to moving to the Lloyd Center, which is also horribly dead (we were discussing it on Discord and I counted nearly 100 vacant spaces!) -- I suppose it has more tenants than Mall 205, but spread out over a much larger building so it feels just as bad.
