And to wrap up this set, here's a view of the NE 130th St road sign, which has the same leftover "opening 2021" sticker as the Aurora one we looked at earlier.
That's it for this re-update to a long-running set! Coming up next week, looking at the last Safeway decor variant in my collection that I haven't yet posted, following a conversation I had with Anonymous in Houston!
Unusual Safeway decor is always interesting! I know we've discussed Lifestyle v3 here lately and also Colorful Lifestyle v1.9. I suppose it'll be one of those or Colorful Lifestyle v2. It'll be interesting to see what it is!
ReplyDeleteBefore leaving the topic of Sprouts and HomeGoods, I recently came across a very interesting mall in beautiful Santa Fe, NM. It's a very unusual mall as the tenants are Market Street (Albertsons), Sprouts, HomeGoods, CVS, and Office Depot. The Market Street is a former Albertsons that itself was a former Montgomery Ward. I don't know how much of the Montgomery Ward building was reused when it was turned into an Albertsons, but it's neat anyway. The Market Street is only accessible from the outside. The Sprouts likewise does not appear to have a mall entrance, but it is part of the mall structure.
The HomeGoods was actually the old Office Depot. It looks like Office Depot relocated across the mall when HomeGoods moved in. Link: https://goo.gl/maps/toEd5VqV2TGgCbDq8
While the United division of Albertsons converted that mall Albertsons into a Market Street, they converted the other two Santa Fe Albertsons into Albertsons Markets with Heritage decor. It looks like the other two stores had Awnings decor originally. Here's one which does a good job carrying that Heritage decor: https://goo.gl/maps/ehFUdP2XxczsBReU6
FWIW, Albertsons' big competitor in Santa Fe is Smith's (Kroger) and it seems that the Albertsons stores are doing a bit better with Google ratings. Anyway, I thought you might like seeing that odd mall with two supermarkets and also that Heritage decor store.
Ha! Almost -- it's Lifestyle v1.9. I don't have any of the Colorful Lifestyle versions in my backlog yet, but that should change soon -- I'm planning to go to Eastern Washington in the next few weeks and one of the highlights of that trip will be a Colorful Lifestyle v2 store!
DeleteThose stores look cool, though I certainly prefer Heritage over that older Market Street decor! That Heritage store looks really good -- certainly looks like a nicer remodel than the one I visited.
That's interesting that you prefer Heritage over the Market Street decor. Market Street is the United division's upscale store format, but actually I agree with you that the Heritage stores look better. Heritage is a real winner of a decor package even if the one store you saw with it didn't do the best job implementing it. The Market Street store looks pretty good as well though and at least they put in good flooring in all of those stores. They also used elements of local art which makes sense with Santa Fe being an art town and most of that art being local art. Maybe that gives them an edge over the Smith's in town which have pretty standard implementations of Bountiful.
DeleteI just looked at the HomeGoods at that mall and it's a lot like the HomeGoods you showed. I guess that's just the decor they are using now with the low ceilings and the home-like light fixtures.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Lifestyle v1.9 store! Hybrid stores are always a bit strange. I'm glad you're getting a chance to see Colorful Lifestyle v2 as well. It's pretty common here, but I know it isn't so common over there. Hopefully there will be some interesting sights in Eastern Washington!
The newer Market Street decor used at the Albertsons Market Street locations in Idaho is very nice, but I'm not a big fan of the older one. But you're right, Heritage is quite a nice decor -- it's too bad that it isn't getting much use in my area. As much as I like Modern, Albertsons/Safeway has at least three decor packages that I like even better right now (Heritage, Ultra-Premium, and Market Street Broadway)!
DeleteSpeaking of Safeway decor packages, I've filled out several more states on my Safeway decor list in recent weeks, including Colorado and Hawaii, which have perhaps the highest concentrations of interesting stores. Maybe I'll start on Texas soon since we keep talking about those stores, but I feel like that's going to be a huge undertaking! (The current list has 141 stores in Texas, and that's just pre-merger Safeway brands...)
