Produce nook

Up at the front of the produce department, we find this store's biggest mystery -- that fancy glass turret we saw from the outside is just home to the store's Coinstar and Redbox machines, and is largely hidden behind produce cases and displays. Looking at Street View, you can see that this corner of the store was seemingly once home to something special, with a large row of sliding windows (all covered over by the produce cases) and a section of raised ceiling with clerestory windows (blocked off by QFC's traditional low drop ceiling). Unsurprisingly, it appears that these changes date back to before the Neighborhood remodel (the windows were covered up, at least, and I can't imagine they made such major modifications in that remodel), but at the same time, it would be surprising for QFC to remove a deluxe feature in the Fresh Fare remodel. From Historic Aerials, it appears that this thing, whatever it was, was added in between 1990 and 1998, meaning it predates the 00s redevelopment (so that makes somewhat more sense I suppose, rather than it having only been here for a couple years).
