Pacific Place is a rather odd looking building, being a combination of 90s-era ultra-boring neoclassical architecture (about my least favorite style of all time) and late-2010s ultra-modern design. The mall underwent a massive remodel in 2018-19, which resulted in most of its tenants leaving (I believe the kicked many of them out with the expectation of getting new tenants when the remodel was done)... and then, just as they were going to have their big reopening in early 2020, COVID hit, which resulted in the mall being closed for most of the year (I'm sure the riots didn't help either, with the area around Nordstrom being one of the focal points), and many of the remaining tenants closed down too. Even now, with tourists and office workers largely gone, it doesn't appear that any major businesses are particularly interested in opening here.
One interesting thing about Pacific Place is how many of its tenants, even ones on the upper levels, have exterior signs. Also interestingly, several of the tenants that remain, including the ones seen here (Din Tai Fung and Haidilao Hot Pot), are upscale restaurants that seem to largely cater to the Asian population. I'm surprised they've been able to hang on when most of the other tenants here have bailed.
