This store's facade is obviously relatively recent, dating back to the 00s redevelopment, but it still looks quite nice -- I particularly like the barrel-vaulted features above the entrance doors and the half-turret off to the left visible in the previous picture (which is rather odd inside, as we'll see soon enough). The yellow-on-black version of the QFC logo (because QFC can never have enough logo variations) looks quite nice too!
Is the signage at this store not illuminated? It's a bit odd for stores here not to have illuminated signage or at least a light shining on an otherwise non-illuminated light.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about this design which reminds me of a Spanish mission design Taco Bells from ancient history (well, the 1980s at least, lol). Most of those didn't have illuminated signs either, but they did have a big light in front that lit up the signage as you can see here: https://roadarch.com/08/4/tacobell2.jpg
Oh, there's another old Volvo! I guess there are still a lot of those in Seattle! I can't say I'm too surprised!
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be internally-illuminated like most signage. Most likely, what's happening here is that my old camera was having trouble with the lighting conditions here (like it did in practically all outdoor situations)... either the signage was lit up and it doesn't look like it, or it wasn't actually as dark out as the camera made it look.
DeleteHa, they're everywhere, apparently! The only real surprise, though, is that both of the ones here were Volvo sedans rather than wagons, which I see more commonly (or perhaps I'm just more likely to notice old Volvo wagons than sedans, since they are more distinctive looking).
