Produce on the front wall

I'm highly impressed by the produce space in this store, and I can definitely see why QFC would have wanted to put it here rather than wasting the space on the checkouts. While this store being partially underground could easily have turned into a big headache, the section of wall below the windows turned out to bee pretty much exactly the right height for the wall cases, while allowing for a big wall of windows to let in tons of natural light -- supplemented by the way that the office space is set back from the windows, so the full story-and-a-half height is open to the QFC. That doesn't leave much space for decor, but the designers compensated for that nicely by including a hanging sign and other suspended decor elements. I was just in this store the other day, and while I didn't feel like getting more pictures, it refreshed my memory that this place looks even nicer in person than in these photos.

  1. It's always interesting to think about these stores with abundant natural light and how different they must look at night than during the day! Things look pretty bright in there when the photo was taken, but I wonder how different the mood feels at night or during a bad weather day.

    1. Yeah, that's certainly an interesting point! It doesn't even look like there are a lot of light fixtures up here, so it probably does get fairly dark. Maybe I'll have to check that out at some point...
