Jumping across the street to the garage for a moment, I found this sign above the elevator buttons to be rather amusing. Clearly, this must date back to the Bon Marche era, since I'm sure smoking was prohibited throughout the building long before Macy's took over! Also, the mention of "public meeting rooms" is interesting -- I wonder what those were. And there's just something charmingly old-fashioned about the phrase "selling floors"!
