Looping around the produce department, here's a view of the back of the blue hanging sign panels. You can also very clearly see the zip tie holding the right-most gate in place, alongn with the vacant former Subway in the background. (It seems like Walmart is having trouble keeping restaurant tenants these days -- McDonald's has been closing many of their Walmart locations lately [not that they were ever very common around here], and Subway has been closing a lot of theirs locally, though I'm not sure about other regions.)
Besides the one that was in the back of the store in Southaven, I don't know of any Subway closures near me. However, that one hasn't been replaced, and it seems stores lately are opening without restaurant tenants at all (like Horn Lake, which has the space but nothing's ever gone in). Meanwhile, the Hernando Walmart Subway recently remodeled!
ReplyDeleteInteresting! There are still a decent number of Walmarts with Subways around here, but still, significantly fewer than there used to be.
DeleteAround here, most still have McDonald's and some even got remodeled recently. A few McDonalds, mostly in smaller stores closed outright with no food tenant replacement. Some former Target Walmarts have no food tenants at all.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Yeah, we have quite a few mini-Supercenters around here that don't really have any tenant spaces.
