The shoe department is another thing that looks more modern than 1999, with the soft purple walls and the uplighting on top of the shelves (something that's a bit of a trend right now -- just look at Target!). The shelving looks decidedly less current, but it's not too different from what you see in most Fred Meyers.
I don't know, purple is a very 1990s color! I don't know about light purple specifically though. The lighting does look more modern though so maybe it is more modern.
