Produce only gets a tiny bit of wall space, not even enough for a sign -- and much of what it gets is shared with dairy! Of course, prior to the mystery repaint, this wouldn't have even been identifiable as produce wall space, so it's a little strange that someone decided to paint this bit of wall green. But that's the least of the weirdness about this repaint!
Even before I saw your comment, I though it was strange to see green paint for the refrigerated case. I suppose it makes sense, or at least a little sense, with the produce department being so close nearby.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the layout of that backwall does seem similar to the Albertsons I know that we had in Houston, the overall look of that back actionway looks more Safeway-like than Albertsons-like! I guess it's because of the roof that looks similar to some Houston Randall's that were formerly Handy Andys.
Yeah, it's certainly a bit weird.
DeleteYou're right about this looking kind of Safeway-like -- I believe these Marina Albertsons stores are considered to be pretty much direct knock-offs of Marina Safeways, so this does look quite a bit like the expanded Marina stores that are still reasonably common around here. And having dairy on the back wall is fairly common for Marina stores that didn't get big layout changes when they were expanded!
