The liquor aisle itself has a seriously grand feel to it, with the brick wall and arched windows. This almost looks too upscale to be in a Safeway! One of those Romanesque decor packages would really fit right in here, not that Safeway has used any during this store's lifespan. This aisle is also extra-wide, thanks to that emergency exit staircase we saw in the last couple photos, and you can also see just how long the few aisles in the front of this store are -- this is past the cards and baby sections, even! And it certainly helps that Safeway left the original, deluxe Lifestyle flooring in place here, rather than swapping it out for dirt cheap white vinyl as they normally do in these cheap Modern remodels.
I honestly can't tell if there is a vinyl floor there in that photo of it it's concrete! Whatever it is, it's very shiny and that's making it hard to tell!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of flooring, what do you make of this old Marina Safeway in El Paso, TX that now has another grocer, Food King, in it that uses carpeted floors?

It's the old beige vinyl from the Lifestyle era, which I've always liked. This store seems quite well kept up (at least cosmetically) compared to some other Safeways I've shopped at, and that certainly extends to the floors!
DeleteI can never say too much negative stuff about a Marina Safeway, but I'm still not a fan of carpet in grocery stores. It does look like they're doing a good job of keeping it up, though, so it's not too bad.
Awesome view here! Love those arched windows and the brick wall.
