The coolest part about this store might just be the exterior signage! I'm not entirely sure what aesthetic they were going for here, but it still looks cool. From the assessor's website, here's a picture showing the building still under construction, but with the original signage in place -- it looks even more cool, even without the neighborhood name included! Interestingly, the oldest Street View available shows another, much more boring sign here instead -- not sure what the history is there, or when this fancy sign was installed.

  1. That's a pretty neat sign. It'll be interesting to see what your local Safeway looks like on the inside. I assume it's going to look a bit different than the typical suburban Safeways we usually see.

Speaking of vertical signs like that, I was poking around on Google Maps today and came across the Cuyahoga Falls Acme Fresh Market (not to be confused with the Philadelphia-area Acme, that's a completely different chain). I've been to Cuyahoga Falls and to a Acme Fresh Market, but not this particular location. In fact, it's fairly new in that it was probably built in the early-to-mid 2010s. But, anyway, given that it is new, check out that awesome retro street pylon sign and also the retro signs on the store itself! That's pretty neat. The interior of the store is a bit bland and tacky, but not as bland as Kroger Artisan at least, lol. Also, those stained glass panels on the side of the store are visible in the frozen food department. It's pretty neat. https://goo.gl/maps/GTZpo6G7sejM2BwUA

This store's certainly a bit different, but that doesn't seem to be just because it's an urban location. I've been in some of these mixed-use Safeways that are extremely similar to the normal ones, but in this case, it's just all weird.
