Oculus

I'm sorry, but the Romanesque architecture here is really getting me into Roman Empire architecture geek mode! 🙂 I visited Italy a lot growing up, and the Pantheon (with its famous giant oculus) is probably my dad's favorite building of all time, so I can't help talking about it here...

Stepping inside the store, the first thing you see is this giant oculus-like ceiling fixture over the main actionway. It's too bad that this is just a fancy light fixture and not an actual skylight, but it's still super cool! I'm sure this would have been even more impressive when Fry's was new... and yes, it's slightly sad that I'm saying the same thing about a less-than-20-year-old store as I would with true 2000-year-old Roman buildings.
