Urban Mix-ing it up

Jumping forward in time, it's amazing how different the new Urban Mix decor makes this store feel! Virtually nothing about the store's layout was changed, but the new decor makes it feel like there's a lot more going on, with something on every inch of wall space. In general, that's one of my favorite aspects of Urban Mix -- it doesn't leave any of the big blank areas that are all too common in many decor packages -- but in a very small store like this, it can get a little bit overwhelming.

That being said, I will give Urban Mix props for adjusting well to lower-ceiling stores, something that we're not going to see much of at this store. Most of the decor packages between Fresh Fare and Urban Mix (I'm particularly thinking of 2012/Bountiful) did not adjust well to small stores or low-ceiling stores, so Urban Mix is still certainly more versatile than many decor packages.

  1. Things looks pretty nice here. I like the white painted ceiling, the floor pattern, and the decor makes for a nice, bright look even with the tight space.

    1. Honestly, I've never seen an Urban Mix remodel I don't like so far, so I agree, it's quite nice! I'm not sure about the flooring here -- it's the old Fresh Fare floor, which looks quite nice with Fresh Fare decor, but does seem somewhat out of place with Urban Mix. Still, it looks much nicer than most options!

  2. Fresh and local looks okay in low ceiling stores, and I like bountiful better than Marketplace in the same environment... but yeah, overall, I'd definitely agree that Urban Mix is the most adaptable décor so far.

    1. I agree, Fresh and Local certainly looks fine in low-ceiling stores, but not great. That's why I didn't really mention it. I'd probably go the other way with 2012/Bountiful versus Marketplace, but it's not a real contest since both simply don't look very good! Of course, I don't have much experience with Banner in low-ceiling stores myself, but the few times I've seen it, I feel like Fred Meyer has done a reasonably decent job of making it work.

    2. Fair point for sure, as I've only experienced Banner in one low ceiling store myself... I just really didn't like the application in that location, lol. Of course, that's not to say it can't be bad in high ceiling stores also -- one particular location in the Jackson area comes to mind for that...
