The new deli signage is a bit odd, with a "prepared foods" sign over the deli counter and the "delicatessen" sign around the corner (where the meats and cheeses sign used to be). I suppose that could have made some sense with the former layout, but the case on the wall was swapped to hold drinks instead, so... yeah, it's a bit weird.
Speaking of Safeways where the department signage is in wrong places, I just read today on the Houston Historic Retail blog that one of our Randall's stores in Houston is closing. It's a store with a bit of boomerang history. It started as a Weingarten's in 1959, it became a Safeway in the early 1980s, it became an AppleTree in the late 1980s, and then became a Randall's before Safeway took over Randall's. Anyway, the HEB across the street, which I think is relatively new, must have taken away this store's business.
ReplyDeleteThat Randall's has the Lifestyle v3 decor package so you probably won't cry to see that store with going out of business liquidation signs all over it, lol. Still, as you can see in the photos, the dairy sign leads to orange juice and the beer & wine sign leads to yogurt. It was just a bit off, eh? Lol. Huh, that's weird! I wonder how they managed to mess that up that badly.
