Tacked-on entrance

Of course, from the interior, the main entrance doesn't even look like it should be the main entrance! It's clear from this angle how tacked-on the entryway is, with the interior presence limited to a (literal) hole in the wall. Heck, Safeway didn't even bother to install the thank you sign in its proper location above the door, placing it off to one side instead for some reason!

  1. This is most certainly not the grand entrances we have come to expect from Randall's stores! Granted, the grand entrances was more of a pre-Safeway Randall's thing than a Safeway thing. Even by Safeway standards, however, this is pretty...austere.

That Ad Locator thing is pretty odd. I've never seen that before at Randall's or anywhere else around here. HEB does usually keep a copy of their weekly ad tacked to a display near the main entrance not unlike what Target does, or did at least, but just about every supermarket here, including HEB, keeps a stack of printed sales circulars near the entrances for customers to take with them (or leave in the cart as is usually the case).

    1. Hmm... those ad locators are pretty much universal at our Safeways. They have both a display copy of the ad (in the rotating +-shaped part on top) and a stack of ads in a basket below that. I'm not sure what they're doing for new stores and converted Albertsons, though -- I remember my Albertsons growing up always just had a copy of the ad tacked on to a bulletin board by the entrance.
