Lots of shoppers, not a lot to buy

I really don't know why there were so many customers down here in the dairy and frozen department, since the dairy cases at least were obviously empty -- maybe the frozen cases were running on backup power and still had merchandise in them, because otherwise this makes no sense. I really don't remember at this point -- honestly, I remembered this area being all closed off, but obviously it wasn't!

  1. Perhaps if they had a refrigerated area in the back that they took the stock to, perhaps customers were asking the employees to get what they wanted from the back. That might explain why people are just sitting around waiting. Who knows. Maybe these customers had nothing better to do and were just waiting for the power to come back on, lol.

I wonder what the reaction would have been from the clerks if you purchased light bulbs during a power outage, lol.

    1. I have absolutely no idea, but they are standing around an entrance to the back room, so... maybe? You'd think if they were trying to keep items cold, they wouldn't want to keep opening the door to the walk-ins, but your guess is as good as mine at this point, since I didn't really pay attention at the time and certainly don't remember two years later.

Ha, that would be funny! Now I wonder if Safeway even sells light bulbs anymore. This store's giant for Safeways in this region, so I suppose it probably does, but they're really trending away from general merchandise products like that and focusing more on grocery items.
