The front end almost looks normal in this picture (if not in real life), at least if you look past the darkened Starbucks kiosk. A fairly large percentage of the lights up here were still on, and the registers (even the self-checkouts) were lit up and in service. Putting the checkouts on emergency power seems to imply that Safeway (or Fred Meyer) intended for this store to remain at least somewhat operational during a power outage when they designed it, which seems a bit surprising to me!
