The layout of the general merchandise section down here is certainly a bit unconventional, with all of the departments thrown in in what feels like a random order. Here, we have the furniture, luggage, tableware, and small appliances all sharing the same space, departments which in a traditional Fred Meyer are all in completely different parts of the salesfloor. Since Fred Meyer completely rearranged this lower level area, they basically had a blank slate to put departments wherever they wanted; why they came up with this layout is beyond me.
