Like in many Safeways of this vintage, parts of the store have extremely low ceilings, including the first few aisles on this side of the store. Also featured is another vintage grocery trait, that being amusing combinations of items on one aisle -- this is the combination liquor and meat department! I wouldn't have expected a full-size meat department here, but something about the combination is rather amusing to me. I mean, as someone from a small town, how much more stereotypically rural America can you get than meat and liquor?
