Pike Place Target

And here's the money shot -- the Pike Plaza Target with the famous Pike Place Market sign in the background. (Ironically, the Pike Plaza mall shared its name with the infamous 1960s attempt to redevelop Pike Place Market into a generic office park... whoever named it mustn't have known much about local history! That also makes it almost impossible to find anything about the Pike Plaza mall, since everything you find online is talking about the urban renewal plans.) Not only is this an iconic Seattle view, but it's also a recreation of this picture on Wikipedia showing the long-gone downtown Penney's location, which was sadly torn down to make way for this horribly ugly building. (Seriously, while it may not be that obvious from my pictures, this is definitely one of the ugliest buildings in downtown..)

Tomorrow -- one block east, one block north, and back to Macy's!
