The windows along the north wall are a bit weird -- the top part, which presumably would have been above the original ceiling but is now exposed, is all covered over (which can also be seen from the outside), while the actual windows on the bottom were covered up by a wall that Target added, leaving only a (nearly pointless) little strip along the bottom. The real point of interest in this picture, though, is the rare original City Target aisle marker, for aisle P12 -- which got me thinking, if this decor did have a traditional Target decor package name, wouldn't it be P12? After all, the original handful of City Targets opened in 2012, and they were the only ones to get this decor package, with newer ones (like the Portland one) getting a slightly modified version of P13 instead.
Ha, good point about the name! On Discord we were actually trying to come up with less confusing names recently, ones that more accurately reflect families of similar décors. I came up with Color Worlds for the 90s and 01 package, and DZ Retail did Red Sea for the 2000s ones (inspired by all the red walls and the boat signs). Not sure we got anything for P13 or P17 though.
ReplyDeleteThe whole purpose driving that conversation was that Walmart's newest décor, as you may have seen in l_dawg's photostream, is now blue instead of black... but yet clearly still belongs in the "black décor 2.0" family. In hindsight, BD2.0 wasn't a very descriptive name anyhow, but I'm not sure we wound up with much better... I'd have to look back at the chat to see what I came up with, and if I still like it.
Interesting! I'm sorry I don't follow Discord very well... that sort of communication format just doesn't really work for me. Anyways, I do quite like those names!
DeleteAnd yes, I've been following that interesting remodel project. I like what I see so far -- at least, assuming it is still a work in progress and this isn't what Walmart intends the final product to look like!
No worries, it's certainly not for everyone! I'm only in the one server myself, I couldn't handle more than that.
DeleteGlad to hear you like it, but I don't think I'd keep your hopes up that there's more décor coming...
🙁
DeleteI agree :(
