Giant wall sign

Heading out to the Roosevelt side of the building, here's a look at the store's weird, supersized road sign of sorts. The top blank panel makes sense -- it used to say "open 24 hours" before QFC cut back on hours at most of their stores last year -- but the bottom one's a little weirder. It's a little hard to see in photos, but it says "Minute Clinic" -- that's right, not Kroger's "Little Clinic" brand (which doesn't exist in this area), but CVS's "Minute Clinic" brand (which, surprisingly, also doesn't exist in the northwest). Apparently, Minute Clinic was originally an independent company before being bought out by CVS in 2006, and clearly kept its branches in other stores for at least a few years, though at least in this region they're gone altogether at this point. Presumably, this is what the weird space next to the pharmacy was originally for. I have to wonder if any other QFCs (or Fred Meyers for that matter) once had Minute Clinics -- I haven't found any that are nearly this obvious, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Oh, and there's a reason those windows along the Roosevelt frontage weren't visible from the salesfloor -- they lead to the back room! Presumably they were required under an old version of Seattle's facade transparency requirements, but for some reason QFC didn't want them to actually be visible. (Alternatively, it's possible that they did once look into the salesfloor, since I'm almost certain the layout has been changed substantially since this store was originally built, but that still seems unlikely.)
