Total Inventory Blowout!

Yep, while this was quite a nice store, it was apparent the few times I visited that not all was well here. This store was just a couple blocks from the Greenwood Fred Meyer, and as I mentioned at that time, it was clear that people were preferring to head over there instead. It's not that odd for grocery stores around here to seem low on business (at least on the weekends when I typically visit), but this store was clearly not super healthy. As a result, Safeway decided to close this store and one other and sell the land for redevelopment (rather than redeveloping it themselves, as they're doing with at least three other Seattle stores, including the U District Safeway and Magnolia Albertsons we've seen already), netting a cool $16 million or so in the process. (It would certainly be interesting to know how many years of typical profits for these stores that would represent...)

Buckle up, this is going to be a long one -- it looks like about 2 and a half months worth of pictures for the two stores here, which I'm planning to present in parallel. And with school starting back up next week, I'm going back to the 2-a-day upload format for the foreseeable future.
