Welcome to the West Tacoma Rite Aid!

This store opened in 1999, likely as a replacement to an old Payless that Rite Aid got the merger three years earlier (and which I strongly suspect was either what's now the Planet Fitness or Value Village across the street). Starting quite soon after buying Payless, Rite Aid replaced many of their old stores (almost always located in strip malls and/or paired with grocery stores) with new, much larger standalone stores. Still, we don't have all that many diamond window stores around here compared to some other places (since that model was replaced not too long after the merger), and it's even less common to find one in an unaltered state like so many are elsewhere (since Rite Aid seems to have done a bit better here than elsewhere, and the early replacements were presumably in relatively good markets for them).
