Case in point -- both of the customers seen here ended up waiting at the pharmacy in the previous picture (taken a short time after this one). I'm not sure why the rest of the back actionway is so empty here, as the store was reasonably busy the whole time I was there.
The interesting ceiling arrangement, found in a stripped-down form in almost all QFCs today, is also quite visible here. It actually looks pretty good in this store (with a decor package that actually belongs with it), but the lowered ceiling around the perimeter completely ruins most decor packages that Kroger has thrown at these stores. The extra accents, like the lowered wood section over frozen, are no longer present in normal QFCs, but the slightly-octagonal raised section, are a trademark (if kind of unfortunate) QFC design to this day.
