As would befit an all-new, experimental prototype, Kroger's designers had fun with this store, customizing everything under the sun. That even extended to the cart corrals, which were replaced with this thing (more of a sign than anything else!). It's certainly more decorative than functional -- the only thing keeping the carts in place is the little bit of curbing on each side, though I think that used to be a bit more common -- but it does do a good job of fitting in with the aesthetics of this store.
