Walmart certainly didn't put a lot of effort into fixing up this place when they took it over, simply slapping on a new coat of paint and walling off most of the original entrances. (As we'll see soon, the interior looks super cheap as well, though I suppose that was typical of Walmart through most of the 2010s!) When Walmart moved in, the original redevelopment proposals weren't quite dead yet, and rumor has it that Walmart would love to build a new full-size store (this isn't even a supercenter, though it's 80,000 square feet, and there are smaller supercenters out there) if they had the chance, so I have to wonder if this was intended to be a short-term solution that has ended up sticking around for longer than they were anticipating.
