American Walmart seems to go back and forth on whether they want to use the classic smiley logo or not, but at least as of this visit, the Walmart Canada was still using it prominently. I hope that hasn't changed with the recent branding changes that have brought Walmart Canada more in line with the US side of things. On a side note, the very prominent signage for the restrooms (sorry, washrooms) is another place where Airport seems to have taken inspiration from this package.

Smiley seems to be back for now -- he's been integrated as the AI assistant in the Walmart and Sam's Club apps, renamed "Sparky."
ReplyDeleteI like the Smiley garlands above the self checkouts!
ReplyDeleteTo add to Retail Retell's comment, the new Walmart decor does slip Smiley (Sparky?) into some of the new artwork too.
I had noticed the chatbot thing on the website, but I hadn't noticed it in the recently remodeled store I visited last month. Good to know I just missed it!
