Fred Meyer rearranged the produce department to their new standard layout, with an L-shaped row of cases mostly enclosing it on two sides. I've always thought this layout seemed smaller than the older version with the service area in the middle, but the actual sales area is probably larger since the service area was taken out. I'm so used to Safeway's way of displaying produce that the vertical stripes of different fruits on these displays looks a bit odd to me -- especially the melons and pineapples!
