Sears' jewelry counters were completely removed, but it was very easy to tell where they used to be thanks to the rough-cut carpet that used to be in the employee areas. It looks like someone tried removing that carpet at some point but gave up when it turned out to be a bit better glued down than it looks! I always thought the jewelry counters were tiled in place since it looked like they had tile around their base, but seeing this, I'm guessing that was just highly reflective metal trim. In some spots, the grout where the counters used to be is noticeably cleaner (or at least lighter) than in the rest of the store, which makes me wonder how long it has been since the tile was properly cleaned!
