Despite this store's small size, it does have a service deli, and it doesn't even seem to be overly shrunken compared to delis in much larger stores of this era (though it pales in comparison to the standard that Lifestyle set). There's even a hot foods case on the left, mostly hidden behind the crackers. Oddly, there is no department sign for the deli, nor any trace of one previously having been here. Some Safeways of this era had neon signs for the deli, and if there was one here it could have been removed after breaking down... but I would have expected that to leave an obvious labelscar behind, and there's nothing of that sort.
